She was predeceased by: her parents, Clinton J. Phoenix and Bertha Phoenix; her former husband Alan Brown; her husband Duane Valentine; her siblings, Ethel Weir and Edward Phoenix; and her sons-in-law, Alan Miller and Jay Slagle.
She is survived by: her children, Jacquelyn Slagle of Altoona, PA, Rebecca White (Ronald) of West Chester, OH, Michael Brown (Diann) of Norwich, Martha Knowles (Mark) of Guilford, Joel Brown (Christine) of Traverse City, MI, Stephen Brown (Leslie), Esther Miller of Schuyler Lake, NY, Barbara Knowles (Paul) of Guilford and Jennifer Von Matt (Greg) of Waterville, NY; her stepchildren, Gary Valentine (Sally), Karen Lightner (Richard) and Sharon Cree (Timothy); and her sister Gladys Toon. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
