Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother" Olean, NY Janice A. Brockel, formerly of Prospect Ave., passed away peacefully Wednesday (March 21, 2018) at The Pines Healthcare Facility in Olean. Born September 4, 1929 in Olean she was the daughter of John and Lula Evans Ferrio. On October 11, 1947 in Olean she married Clarence A. Brockel who predeceased her on June 12, 1998. Mrs. Brockel was a lifelong resident of Olean and had been employed by Olean General Hospital as a cafeteria worker for close to 47 years prior to her retirement. Her life was centered on her family and her grandchildren were the love of her life. She also had a beloved dog Otto that she missed since his passing. Surviving are her 4 children Lynn (David) Nolder and Paul (Mary Jo) Brockel, both of Allegany, Jeffrey (Joanne) Brockel of Jacksonville, FL and Leigh Ann (Michael) Wesley of Olean; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 sisters Marlene (Steve) Woodgie of Hinsdale and Corrine Kenyon and Susan (Dennis) Haught, both of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 sons Ronald Brockel and Bradley Brockel; 1 brother Roland Ferrio and 4 sisters Nancy Ferrio, Marilyn Harvey, Loretta Morgan and Diane Taylor. Friends may gather with family on Friday from 4-7pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 24, 2018) at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, PO Box 375, Olean, NY 14760 or to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221.
