He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Hess and Jane Hess (Sexton); his brother-in-law George Starley; Kenneth and Evelyn Cleveland.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Hess of Oneonta; his sons, Brad Hess and Kyle Hess of Millerton; his grandson Cayson Brian Hess; his siblings, Wayne Hess (Fran Hess) of West Laurens and Linda Starley of Windsor; and his sisters-in-law, Sharon Corna and Nancy Smalley (Robert).
