He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Mathewson (Cooley) of Oneonta; his parents, Peter Mathewson and Diana Mathewson of Oneonta; his brothers, Peter (Mary Jane Mathewson) and Michael (Jessica Mathewson); his siblings' children, Joshua Mathewson of Nashville, TN, Jonathan and Christina of Watertown, NY.; Joshua E. Rathmell of Oxford and Bradley R. Oliver of Norwich.

Donations in Brian's memory are asked to be made to the HillCity Church, 1796 Co Rd 48, Oneonta, NY, 13820 or Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center, 2520 Elisha Avenue, Zion, IL 60099.
