He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Lance and Mary Lance (Forte); his children, John Jr. and Rhonda Peebles; and his sisters, Bette Kennedy and Mary Nolan.

He is survived by: his wife Darlene Pidgeon; his children, Anthony, Todd Lance (Peggy) and Cheryl Sovan (Mike); and his stepson Brett Pidgeon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 5 nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and St. Mary's Food Bank.
