He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Melmer and Kathryn Melmer (Straka); and his brother John E. Melmer. He is survived by: his former wife Josephine Lebenick; his wife Jo of Oneonta; his son Robert M. Melmer; his siblings-in-law, Rosalie Lebenick and Frank Lebenick; his sibling's children, Marilyn Dispensa (Susan), Carol Menditto (Joe) and James Dispensa; and his great-nephews, Donato, Matteo, Joseph and Michael Mignone.
