He was predeceased by: his parent Robert W. Gilmore; his spouse Harriett Gilmore; and his daughter Christine M. Clary. He is survived by: his parent Pauline Rookey Gilmore; his children, Debra L. Gilmore of Oswego, Louis D. Gilmore, Jr. of Florida, Robert C. Gilmore and William R. Gilmore; and his sisters, Barbara Moody of Oswego and Connie Shutts (Jack) of Oswego. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
