He was predeceased by: his wife Jeanne; and his sister Alice. He is survived by: his children, Ann Chase (Robert Katz) of Pittsford, NY, Chuck Chase (Lisa McDougall) of Amherst, NY and Karen Chase (Stephen Garrow) of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Larkin Garrow, Caitlyn McDougall and Olivia Moss; and his brother Thomas Chase.

Donations in his memory may be made to WXXI, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Lollypop Farm or the Cancer Research Institute.
