He is survived by : his parents, Thomas Hempel and Marguerite Foos Hempel; his spouse JoAnne Applebee; and his sons, Jonathan of Jackson and Nathan of Carlisle. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren; as well as his mother, five brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
