It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest F Wieting (Putnam Valley, New York), who passed away on April 4, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his brothers, William George Wieting (Helen Seweryn) and John Ernest Wieting (Louise Mino); his cousin Marianne Bruns Langone (Bill); and also Emma Bauman. He is survived by : his sister-in-law Alice Hein; his wife Eleanor Wieting (Bauman); his son Steven; his daughter-in-law Magdalena; his grandchild Sullivan Charles; his extended family, Bruns, Langone, Linnemann and Wietings; and his nieces and nephews, William (Neva), Richard (Rebecca), Greg, Irina (Christopher), Jennifer and Ernie.

I met Ernie in 1993 when I got transferred to the 43 squad he taught me so much about being a Detective never rush to judgment on any case and always make it home to your family.
