He was predeceased by : his wife Joyce R. Vona; his parents, John R Vona Sr. and Ruth Vona; and his son John R Vona III. He is survived by : his children, Dr. David Vona (Judy), Daniel Vona (Karin Scott), Linda Hart (Chris) and Sandy Stewart (Randy); his grandchildren, Kimberly Tomasik (Zach), Haley Hart, Samantha Stewart, Brandon Hart and Matthew Vona; his great grandchild Anthony (Tony); and his sisters, Carol Robek and Janet Remzi. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren.

“Please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Doc was like a father to my wife, Trish, who grew up next to the Vonas. Will always recall him watching a dozen or more young guys gathered on the basketball court out back for pick up ball. Usually had a word of encouragement or advice with a smile for each of us back there from his deck. Rarely left his dental office in the early 90's without a pair of complimentary UB hoop or football tickets he couldn't use that weekend.”
