With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sara Avenoso (Staten Island, New York), who passed away on September 17, 2025 at the age of 101. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Sara may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Sara touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Mario Avenoso; her children, Mario F. Avenoso (Barbara) and Teresa M. Avenoso (late John Sardina); and her grandchildren, Mario R., Danielle and Robin.
Viewing was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cherubini McInerney Funeral Home (1289 Forest Ave, Staten Island, NY 10302). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Clement's R. C. Church (126 Van Pelt Ave, Staten Island, NY 10303). A burial was held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at the St. Peter's Cemetery (52 Tyler Ave, Staten Island, NY 10310).
