She was predeceased by: her mother Mary Ann Burns; and her brother John Burns (Jennifer). She is survived by: her husband John E. Gela; her daughter Nichole Mercer (Thomas Jr.); her granddaughter Avery; her nieces and nephews, Jordan Burns (Alexis Whalen) and Jaden Burns; her aunt Barbara Burns; her godchildren, Ken Domey (Jennie) and Jaden Burns; Robert Darmetko (Charmaine), Lynn Johnson (David), Lori Darmetko, William J. Darmetko (Charlene) and Beckylin Darmetko (Antoine Hardy). She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. (565 Fourth Avenue, Troy, NY 12182). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21st 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
