She was predeceased by : her parents, Cardinal Safford and Mildred Campbell Safford; her son Steven Mayer; her daughter-in-law Edna Mayer; and her grandchildren, Nicki Sue Mayer, Christopher Mayer and Teresa Mayer.

She is survived by : her husband Peter Mayer Jr.; her children, David Mayer (Cheryl), Susan Harcleroad (Robert), John Mayer (Marcia), Peter Mayer (Joan), Sandy King (Robert), Patrick Mayer and Cindy Mayer; her siblings, Bill Safford and Beverly Scritchfield; and her great grandchild Owen Brown. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
