He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Bortle and Alice Bortle; his father-in-law William J. Hogan; and his grandson Brennen Bortle. He is survived by: his wife Ann; his sons, Zach Bortle (Kristy) of North Carolina and Ryan Bortle (Stacy) of Mississippi; his grandchildren, Ben, Anna and Madden; and his siblings, Bernita Luckman, Donna Robinson (Ken), Al Bortle (Debbie), Ron Bortle (Thuy), Debbie Toole (Mike), Alisa Paolitti (Dan), Daniel Bortle and Thomas Bortle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
