He was predeceased by: his parents, Levi Helmstedter and Francis Helmstedter (Nagel); his sister Dorothy; his siblings-in-law, George Greenwald, Mary Staire and Ivene Moats; his brother Charles "Buzz"; and his sister-in-law Donna Staire.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Tony; his wife Peggyan; his children, Barry and Sherri Stevenson (Tony) of Franklin, TN; his grandchildren, Eric (Ann Marie) of Tallmadge and Brandi Winnett (Ryan) of Uniontown; his brothers-in-law, Paul Moats, Sr. and Forrest "Buck" Staire (Patty) of Barberton; his sibling's children, Garry Greenwald (Beth), Rick Greenwald (Kate), Jeff Moats, Paul Moats Jr. (Renata), Cindy Reichelt (Ed), Jennifer Staire, Amy Czepan and Lori Lawson (Trevor); and his close friends, Charlie Mashburn, Bill Wilcox, Whitey Jacobs and Jack Walchuck.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Haven of Rest or American Lung Association.
