He is survived by: his parent Laura Meyer Mercer; his children, Dawn Sorg (Jeff) of Martins Ferry, Tami Adams (Chad) of Wooster, OH and John Mercer, Jr. (Diane) of Akron, OH; his siblings, Mary Jean Gibson of Wheeling, Dave Mercer (Ann) of Texas, Sally Pope of Canal Fulton, OH, Russell Mercer (Karen) of Barberton, OH and Judy Sanetrik (Tom) of Moatsville, WV; his grandchildren, Tony Adams, Natalie Adams, Ann Marie Sorg, Emily Gruber and Amanda Smoot; and his great grandchild Hailee Ebert. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
