He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Hanes and Helen Hanes (Kerr); his stepmother Mary Hanes; and his brothers, Thomas W. Hanes and Richard D. Hanes.
He is survived by: his wife Constance A. Hanes (Castellucci); and his brother Howard H. Hanes of Youngstown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
