He was predeceased by : his parents, Alva James and Frances Cecelia Schertzer (Roszman); his wife Jeanne A. Schertzer (Castanien); his siblings, James Lester Schertzer and Eleanor Louise Hensel; his son John R. Schertzer; and his grandson Matthew W. Michael.
He is survived by : his children, Clinton Schertzer (Susan) of Cincinnati, David Schertzer (Doris) of Austintown, Rodney Schertzer (Liz Lewis) of Norwood and Sheila Michael (Mel) of Andover; his grandchildren, Tod Schertzer (Kris) of Milford, London Schertzer of Paia, David Jr. Schertzer (Sheila) of Austintown and Brad Schertzer (Jen) of Diamond; his great grandchildren, Sophie, Nicole, Tori, Racquel, Dawson, Hunter, Natalie, Harley Sue, Ashley, Savannah, Wyatt and Steven; and his close friend Clare "Sis" Ogram.
