He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Richardson and Roberta Richardson (Hall); his wife Mary Helen Richardson; his siblings, Berta Mae Lovett, Minnie Jean Richardson, Kathella McRae and Mary "Mae" Williams; and his son-in-law James Chatman, Sr..

He is survived by: his children, Jackie Jackson (Richard) of Atlanta, Georgia, Samuel Richardson, Jr. (Toni) of Denver, Michael Richardson of Ashtabula, Kimberly Chatman (Willie) of Youngstown, Regina Richardson (Santo) of Ashtabula, Martina Richardson of Painesville, George Tracey Dismuke of Cleveland and Chyvon Crockett (Lacebian) of Ashtabula, Ohio; his siblings, Johnnie Richardson, Jr. (Mattie), Willie Calvin Richardson, Marlvell Richardson, Annie Richardson, Jurice Richardson, Polly Richardson and Martha Richardson; his siblings-in-law, Silas W. Walker, Arthur Thompson (Doris), Griffin Thompson, Jurlean House and Martha Roberts (Marcus); and his sister Willietta Bunch-Marbury. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
