He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Lanning and Cynthia Hill Lanning; his wife Ruth Wachenschwanz Lanning; and his siblings, Garnet Mullins, Margaret Baird, Walter, Fredrick, Willard and Ernest Lanning.
He is survived by: his children, Judith Lanning of Logan, Anita Alloway-Meek (Lew) of The Plains and Ronald Lanning (Vonette) of Lexington, KY; his close friend Lynn Minerd of Chauncey; and his grandchildren, Debra Adkins of Athens, Scott Adkins (Ruth) of Virginia, Sara Eberts (Greg) of Athens and Joshua Alloway (Tricia) of Richwood. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
Due to the Coronavirus COVID 19 pandemic, family and friends are asked to wear a face covering and observe social distancing at the service.
