He was predeceased by: his parents, Josiah "Si" Benton Allen and Mildred Leighty Allen; his brother Sheriff Robert S. Allen; his wife Mary Kathleen Cox Allen; his brother John Allen; and his sister-in-law Virginia Allen.
He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Smathers (Phil King) of Athens, Jill Meadows (Richard) of Albany and David Allen (Christy) of Athens; his grandchildren, Erica Liskey (Derek), Ty Smathers, Bryn Smathers (Johnna), Taylor Meadows and Trey Meadows; his great grandchildren, Carter Jewell, Collin Smathers and Meredith Haven Smathers; and his sister-in-law Shirley Allen of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
