He was predeceased by: his parents, John Steenrod and Helen Cook Steenrod; and his brothers, Thomas Steenrod, Richard Steenrod and Dale Steenrod.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his sons, Bruce Steenrod (Becky) of Nelsonville and David Steenrod (Lisa Bailey) of Athens; his grandchildren, Steven Sauters, Christian Baumgarner, Dawson Steenrod and Davin Steenrod; and his great grandchild Vivian Sauters.
