He was predeceased by: his son Dan (Lisa); his sibling Theida Diehl; and his parents, Theodore Best and Mary Best. He is survived by: his significant other Marilyn Best (Nee Johnson); his children, Ted (Bryn), Mike, Tim (Kristin), Susan Best-Cole and Lori Best-Yeager (Paul); and his sister Barbara Heim (Jim). He is also survived by 15 Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to "The Hope For B.E.S.T.".
