He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Shafer and Ocie Shafer (Herman); and his son Daniel. He is survived by: his wife Treva Shafer (Marquart); his children, Carol Fox (Jonathan) of Matthews and David Shafer (Debbie) of Horton, Michigan; his grandchildren, Nathan Shafer, Patrick Fox (Teresa) and Katie Torrey (TJ); his great grandchildren, Claire, Claudia, Dane and Catherine Torrey; and his sisters, Janice Shafer of Bluffton and Jeanette Weubbling of Findlay.
