He was predeceased by: his parents, William Curtis and Helen Marceline Chanel Hamilton; and his siblings, Charles, Bobby, Billy, Cheryl and Laura "Sister".

He is survived by: his significant other Patty Hartness; his sons, David Paul Hamilton and Derrick Wayne Hamilton; his grandchildren, Evelyn Shae Greathouse and David Hunter Hamilton; and his siblings, Curtis, Terry, Jimmy, Edie and Becky. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
