He was predeceased by: his spouse Patricia A. Mather; and his child Jan Mather. He is survived by: his children, Barb Stern (Jerry), Pam Merman (Mark) and Michael Mather (Cyndi); his grandchildren, Sara Stern, Joshua, Dustin Merman, Lauren and Ashley Mather; his great grandchildren, Mickenzy, Michael, Shawn and Chloe; and his siblings, Richard Mather and Sue Lynch.
