He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Jean L. Windt; his children, Joseph Windt (Laurie), Joyce Hartmann (Larry), Janet Huxel (Terry) and Jenny Garrido; his grandchildren, Kelly Hartwig (Bryan), Joby Windt, Katie Hartmann, Jeffrey Hartmann (Rachel), Michael Windt (Kate), Jeremy Hartmann (Annie), Jaime Windt (Jared Olson) and Seth Huxel; and his sibling Ruth Ruter (late Bill).

In lieu of flowers memorials donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul (St. Margaret Mary).
