He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Johann; and his brothers, Carl, George "Fed" and Gene Johann. He is survived by: his children, Eric Johann, Randy Johann (Venita) and Jeff Johann (Carie); and his grandchildren, Heidi Graves (Kevin), Kristen Johann, Amy Woolf (Shane), Lauren Johann and Claire Johann.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to Eureka College – Reagan Scholarship, 300 East College Ave. Eureka, IL 61530.
