He is survived by: his wife Mary Carlson (Micki); his children, Patrick Carlson (Cindy), Stephan Carlson, Christopher Carlson (Karen) and Beth Carlson; his grandchildren, Sarah, Nicole, Emily and Ryan; his great grandchild Brant; and his sisters, Joan Krumlinde, Virginia Thompson and Jean Henry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Robert to WGUC Public Radio or the James J. and Joan A. Gardner Family Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Endowment Fund.
