He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Shirey and Faye Shirey (Byers); his wife Carolyn; his son Douglas E. Shirey; his grandson Dale David Shirey; his brother Harold Shirey; his stepbrother Ted Smith; his sisters, Norma Barnes, Alice "Tillie" Stant and Betty Karr; and his stepsisters, Vickie Hardesty and Sally Hardesty.
He is survived by: his children, David Shirey (Debbie) of Circleville, Doyne Shirey of Circleville and Carol Davis of Circleville; his grandchildren, Ben Shirey (Erin Quiantance), Heather, Samantha and Skylar; and his siblings-in-law, David Garrett (Vivan) and Sonnie Bush. He is also survived by several nieces, nephew and a host of family and friends.
