He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph R. Hall Sr. and Lillie Mae Atkins Hall; his wife Dorothy Gwendolyn Hall; his children, Steven Johnson, Joann G. Hall, Lumumba Aungkh-Hera and Vicki Hall; his sisters, Gloria Richardson and Gail McCornell; and his uncle Bobby Atkins of Youngstown, OH. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
