He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smithers and Jenna Smithers; his brothers, Gary Nieding and Ron Korka; his great-nephew Jeremy Korka; and his grandmother Bessie Smithers.
He is survived by: his sister Brenda Yost (Bob) of Elyria; his sibling's children, Lindsay Bott (Joe), Gib Korka (Jen), Robert Nieding (Judy) and Tyler Yost (Jen); and his pet Theodore "Teddy". He is also survived by six great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces.
