He was predeceased by: his wives, Rosita Avery and Mary Davidson; and his sons, Gary, Tony, Richard, John and Ted.
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl MacKinnon (Candy), Thomas Avery (Debbie), Robert Avery (Debra), Lida Miller (Tim), Val Pennington, Mike Pennington, Danny Pennington, Jeff Pennington (Tammy), Kelly Holbrook (Steve) and Rhonda Pennington. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity for veterans, cancer, or the Humane Society.
