He was predeceased by: his wife Carole; his daughter Kathleen; and his sister Maryann Young (Jack). He is survived by: his children, Ben, Shawn (Carleen), Beth, Carolin Leyes (Rick), Colleen and John (Melissa); his grandchildren, Erin Cribbs (Michael), Kelli Harvey (Tim), Kevin (Rachel), Ryan (Meredith), Bryan, Katy, Andrew, Nolan and Maura; his great grandchildren, Megan, Landon, Lucas, Elle, Ben and Cecilia; and his siblings, Bill (Betty), Thomas (Melanie) and Christine Schleicher (Geoff). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Charles Endowment Fund, in memory of Ben Nye, 2010 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43209.
