He was predeceased by: his parents, Alec Stafford and Lucille O'Neal; his wife Yvonne Stafford; his siblings, Lewis, Julian Stafford and Martha Whitaker; his son Samuel Stafford Jr.; and his stepsons, Ricky and Jeremiah Gunn.
He is survived by: his sister Linda Fierrara; his stepson Michael Perry; his daughters, Zabada Lipcomb (James), Sylvia, Anne and Tonya Ellison; and his stepdaughters, Doris Gunn, Yvonne Gray (Irving) and Kim Perry. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, church family, friends.
He was faithful to his calling a true man of God, he would always say " ain't God good " and " he brought me outta darkness into the marvelous light set my feet on a solid foundation".
