He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Raymond and Norma Jean Burkhart (Smithberger). He is survived by: his wife Theresa (Vitullo); his children, Mackenzie (Jim Hirst), Colleen (Taylor Works) and Andrew; his siblings, Debbie Comer (Tom), Doug Burkhart (MaryEllen) and Darla Bohenko (Jeff); his uncle William Burkhart (Debbie); and his cousins, Peggy Mason (Brad) and Billy Burkhart. He is also survived by nieces/nephews, great-nieces/nephews, and in-laws.
