He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Shields and Beatrice Shields; his former wife Joann Shields; and his siblings, Steve, Rudolph, John, Robert Shields, Janice Bernard, Aretha Robinson and Roberta King.
He is survived by: his wife Celestine "Tina" Harvey Shields; his sister Kami Muwwakkil; and his children, Kevin W. Martin, Bruce Ross (Mariola) and Birdie Pickens (William). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 39 nephews, 40 nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends.
