He is survived by: his children, John Jr. (Brittany), Angela Messer (Robert) and Kate Brigner (Tracy); his grandchildren, Zackary, Gracyn, Lucas and Charlotte; and his brother Melvin Bruce (Lori). He is also survived by two nephews, and many friends.
