He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Lenihan and Ernestine Lenihan; and his siblings, Daniel Lenihan (Mary), Joseph Lenihan (Nancy), Richard Lenihan, James Lenihan and Eileen Stevenson (Stephen).

He is survived by: his wife Penelope Lenihan; his children, Michael Lenihan, Laura Fox, Lisa Hall, Kevin Lenihan (Erica) and Beth Cottrell (Victor); his grandchildren, Miranda, Megan Farwick (Derek), Erin Moore, Erica Moore, Nicholas Fox, Mathew Hall, Ryan (Chelsea), Kyle, Connor, Trevor Lenihan, Erik and Alexis Cottrell; his great grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Aubrey, Sydney, Andrew and Alexander; and his sisters-in-law, Anne and Carolyn Lenihan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
