Lewis, Sr.; his stepmother Mary Banks Lewis; and his siblings, Helen Lewis Williams, Elema Lee Lewis Pearson, James Howard Lewis, Johnie B. Lewis, Jr. of New Bern, NC, Charles Smith, Leslie Stanley, Phillip Quarles and Michael Quarles.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara J. Hairston; his children, Richard L. Hairston Lewis of Columbus, OH, Tomeki Lewis Mclean (Fred) of Columbus, OH, Rochelle Lewis of Columbus, OH, Tyrone A. Lewis of Columbus, OH and Joseph Lewis Jr. (Tania) of New York; his grandchildren, Destiny S. Lewis, Patrick J. Holder and Jamal R. Spencer-Lewis; his grandson-in-law Jamier Humphrey; his great grandchildren, Jamarrionna, Jamillia and Jamier Jr.; and his siblings, Akira Lewis, Bennie Kennedy, Huey Lewis (Dale) of Mississippi and Bryant Quarles of Havelock, NC.. He is also survived by 6 sisters-in-law, 12 god children; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
