He was predeceased by: his daughter Mary; his parents, Alfonso and Maria (Valentino); and his siblings, Lorenzo (Gloria), Antonietta (Carl) and Anne Jane (Joseph).

He is survived by: his wife Judith; his son Phillip; and his grandchildren, Todd, Ryan and Mary Caroline (Merkel). He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews and dear friends.

Also, during this period, Joe started volunteering for Charity Newsies in 1957, raising thousands of dollars during his 60+ years with the organization.
