He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ludolf Joseph Hoyer and Melanie Bach; his wife Doris Hoyer; his children, Wayne Hoyer (Shirley), James Hoyer (Kathy), Louis Hoyer (Debra), John Hoyer and Patricia Hoyer (Peg); his grandchildren, Alison, Kellie (Jerrod), Emily, Kaylea, Aaron, Devon, David, Stephanie and Lindsey; his great grandchildren, Brayden and Ava; his brother Duane Hoyer (Karen); his sister-in-law Ruth Warner; and his daughter-in-law Doris Eleanor Nicoll. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
