She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Scales Sr. and Mariah Busch Scales; her siblings, Anthony, Ernestine, Martin, Estelle, Sam Jr., Mariah, Chester, Alice, Leroy and Sylvester; and her sons, Elmer and Kenneth.
She is survived by: her children, Rosemary Scales of Chicago, Annette Gordon (Timothy) of Columbus, Ohio. and Maurice Tanter of Chicago, Illinois.; her adoptive son Kenneth Staples of Winchester Care; her grandchildren, Kenneth, Sophia, Eric, Ahmed, Mikayla, Marques, Antoine, Sheree (Ron) and Shannon; and her sibling's children, Calvin Earl Moree of Dallas, Charlie Richardson Jr. (LaVina) of Chicago, Janice Richardson-Hill (Greg) of Chicago and Kathy Hall of Phoenix.
McCornell lost the battle to Covid-19 and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
