Castaneda and Tamara Alsaada (Jamal); his grandparents, Ernest, Gracie Nesbitt, Govan and Flossie Clanton; his son Djuan Jemison; his siblings, Evelyn P. Nesbitt Lee-Fox and Reginald D. Morgan; his cousins, Duncan E. Nesbitt and Dr. Artis Edmondson-Holt; his aunts, Mary L. Edmondson and Beesigee Fulani; and his uncle Lemual Nesbitt.
He is survived by: his wife Elder Regina Nettles-Nesbitt; his children, Michael Nesbitt II (Schalen), Anthony Nesbitt (Alicia), Malcolm Nesbitt, Cornelius Nettles (Jacqueline), Tequioa Nesbitt and Kenya Nettles; his grandchildren, Mikayla Nesbitt, Amir Nesbitt, Sylvio Nesbitt, Adonis Nesbitt, Decari Nesbitt, Neahmya Rahmaan and Samya Brady; his great grandchild Alana Marshal; his aunts and uncles, Bobby N. Nesbitt, Dr. Sokoto Funlani, James Edmondson, Nancy Winfield (Michael) and Veronica Nesbitt; and his sibling's children, Toka D. Nesbitt-Raney, Ashley Briggs (Sam), Nicole Castenda, Whitney Jones (Mike), Todd Nesbitt, Telly Lee (Ammie), Larry Price (Shawnte), Lamarz Price (Donavon), Kendall Nesbitt and Cory Nesbitt. He is also survived by great nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends.
He grew up in the church and was committed to his faith, his spiritual foundation was nurtured by his loving Grandmother, Mother Gracie Lee Nesbitt whom he cherished.
