With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Paula A. Spence (Columbus, Ohio), born in Pomeroy, Ohio, who passed away on September 24, 2020 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Pete. She is survived by: her son Brad; her grandson Andrew; and her friend Pat Brand.
A COSI board member from 1990 to 2002, Spence led the building, development and financial resources board, shepherding the effort to raise $45 million in private donations in the 1990s to move the science museum from Memorial Hall to its current home across the Scioto River on West Broad Street. She was a director of Society Bank, Nationwide Insurance Investing Foundation, Franklin University, Council for Ethics in Economics and the Columbus/Franklin County News Bureau.
