She was predeceased by: her parents, George McVay and Dora Fern Houston (Powers); her husband James Maxwell, Jr.; and her brothers, George Calvin and John William Houston.
She is survived by: her son William Karl; her daughter-in-law Debbie Merritt; and her stepchildren, Jenny Thomas (Bob), James III (Mary Jo), Charlie (Cheng), Tom (Diane) and Sam Maxwell (Debbie). She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Donations can be made in Phyllis' name to the National Kidney Foundation.
