He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Mathis-Taylor; his parents, Charles Herbert and Bobbie Lee Taylor; his sister Joyce Taylor; and his sibling's children, Robert Kelly and Imani "Margaret" Williams-Jones.
He is survived by: his daughter Renee' Johnson (Bernard) of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, India Hairston of Miami, FL and Brandon Taylor Johnson; his great grandchildren, Kylah Rae and Bishop Johnson of Charlotte, NC.; his siblings, Robert Taylor (Barbara) of Columbus, OH and Jacqueline Gravely (Thomas) of Detroit, MI; his aunt Ruby Small of Columbus, OH.; his siblings' children, Stephanie Wiggins-Lipson, Kimberly Fowler of Columbus, OH, Jamie Felder, Renee Chapman, Tifany Hunt (David) and Richard Wiggins of Los Angeles, CA.; and his cousins, Mary Francis Blackwell, Jamie Small-Price, Herman "Jericho" Williams, Harold Small and Robert Small. He is also survived by other cousins, great nieces and nephews, and life-long friends.
