He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sr and Aurie Carter, Sr.; and his daughter Debra Hannah. He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Carter; and his children, Cheryl Cowans, Reverend Jerry M. Carter, Jr., Reverend Christopher Carter, Kyra Pruitt-White (Bernard) and Nicole Carter-Jackson (Robert). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
