It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Romie Watkins Jr. (Columbus, Ohio), born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, who passed away on August 24, 2021, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Romie and Estelle Watkins, Sr.; his son Danny Watkins; and his siblings, Tillman, Clayton, Wil, John, Virgil, Robert, Louise, Viola and Clarence.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jeanne Watkins; his children, Denise M. Martin (Curtis), Romie Watkins, III (Wanda), Renee Richardson, John M. Watkins and Mia Prewitt (Jesse); his grandchildren, Halle', Jesse III, Tianna, Tiffany, Kasey, Raina, Pam, Juanita, Romie IV, Bonita, Dawnee, Wendell and Joshua; and his great grandchildren, Rianna, Omarion, Kamari, Jay Marie, Alexis, Naomi, Pamela, Lucius, Martin, Mataya, Anthony and Jahleel. He is also survived by wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
